Bringing the art of straw marquetry to Australia

I am a French furniture maker with 23 years in the trade, trained in France as a Compagnon du Devoir, that journey took me deep into the restoration of antique furniture, design furniture and historical monuments, where precision and respect for material were non-negotiable.

I arrived in Australia in 2013, and a few years later founded my own joinery business. Over eight years, that business grew into an award-winning studio built on the same standards I learned in France.

Now I am channelling that experience into a new passion: straw marquetry.

Throughout my career as a furniture maker, I've been drawn to precision finishes and textures and straw marquetry is unlike anything else. Each individual straw is split, flattened and laid by hand to catch the light in a way no other material can, creating a depth and luminosity that has made it a treasured technique in the world of luxury, fashion and interior design.

Straw marquetry remains largely undeveloped in Australia and I am here to bring this rare and highly regarded French craft to a new audience, piece by piece.
